Fluctuation in body temperate:  When a person has a panic disorder their temperature may get extremely cold and chilly or extremely hot and clammy.  Many people will even have the body temperature go from one extreme to the other (similar to when you have the flu).

Fear or an irrational sense of despair:  This is similar to what a gut instinct would feel like with one major difference.  It is your brain using an illogical thought pattern that has been formed.  It is difficult to believe that there is really nothing to fear at that moment or that there is any impending doom about to happen.  The feelings of fear and despair are so vivid in a person’s mind when they have a panic disorder that it is hard to tell.  Many people fear they are going crazy from those feelings and as a result the fear of the panic disorder ends up making it worse.

Extremely lethargic or extensive nervous energy:  Panic disorders can be just as exhaustive as unsettling for people.  There will be times when you are so tired that all you want to do is shut your eyes and sleep the day away.  That often happens because your body is trying to protect you.  The other extreme is that you have a nervous energy that will not subside.  You may run around like a maniac all day and still not feel like you’ve done something that you need to do – even though you don’t know what that task is exactly.

High or low blood pressure:  Your blood pressure may rise or fall unexpectedly.  That change is very noticeable and can be very frightening because it makes most people:

• Dizzy
• Feel faint
• Get clammy
• Lose focus

Unrealistic perceptions:  You almost feel like you are walking in a daze or in the middle of a dream when this happens.  Yes, you know it is you but it just doesn’t feel like it.  The ground may appear to be moving or it may be difficult to focus on something because it looks like it’s at the end of a long tunnel even when it is right in front of you.

Withdrawal:  Panic disorders wear on sufferer’s nerves and confidence.  Eventually the fear of the disorder will start making those who have it start to withdraw.  They don’t want to show their problems in front of others and often do not realize what sets off a panic attack.  The first solution they often resort to is withdrawing from work, family, and society so they can be alone.  That makes them feel more in control of what is happening and their surroundings.
